Looney Tunes Smears and Multiples

I put together a collection of some of the many multiple and smear frame shots from our first 3 Looney Tunes shorts. If you haven’t framed through the shorts, please do so! The below animated GIFs may take some time to load. I’ve slowed the frames down so you can catch the multiples and smears, and in some cases have taken some frames out to keep the file size down.

This was our submission to the VES awards for Best Overall Achievement in an Animated Short. I was responsible for supervising all rigging on the project as well as doing several of the rigs, tools, and workflows needed to achieve the crazy looney rigs.

This short was nominated for a VES Award for Best Animated Short in 2010. As part of our push to get this short as close to the originals as possible, I helped push the cartoony aspects of rigging by supervising a team of awesome riggers, as well as creating tools and actually rigging Wile E and Road Runner’s body rigs. Scrub through this video and you’ll spot the use of multiple limbs that stay true to Chuck Jones’ style.

This is a project that we did for AMC and Coke, and you can see it pretty much in front of all movies at AMC Theaters. I supervised the rigging for it, which includes the seats, plant/flowers, and fireflies.

Open Season 3

Montage of shots from Open Season 3. Most of the rigs for this show were left over from Open Season 2 (which we did the year before), but going into this project we decided to revamp/update all rigs based on animator feedback. Rig speeds increased and lots of features (better rigs) were implemented, which improved animation quotas.

Madagascar 2 CP work

Our Commercial Production work for Madagascar 2 involved a half dozen or so commercials involving the 4 penguins, julian, alex, gloria, melvin, and marty. I did several of the rigging for these characters as well as supervised all rigs. Here are 2 of those commercials.

Kung Fu Panda: Secrets of the Furious Five

We did the 3D portion of the Secrets of the Furious Five short that was packaged with the first Kung Fu Panda dvd. For this short, we had to rig all the main characters from scratch as well as the new kid “bunnies”. Note that most of the other main characters were mostly used on other commercials and not necessarily the KFP short. I specifically rigged Monkey, Tigress, the bunnies body, and helped finish up Po’s rig for proper deformations.

A stereoscopic spot we did for Dreamworks using the Madagascar penguins. We did several other commercial spots using these penguins. Rigged and supervised the rigging of these guys.
